Old number 181. An Eastern Turki manuscript. This is the famous ... of Shaikh Farid-ud-Din 'Attar, translated from Persian into Turki (f. 3a lower part) where also the name of the author is stated. On f. 3b-6b a lengthy explanation of the principles for the translation and compilation of the work which is said to be an abbreviation of the original work with certain additions from other sources. On ff. 6b-7b there is to be found an index of all the biographies included in the work. The title written in a different way on f. 1a and 1b. Other copies: Zetterstéen 636; Muginov 69. NB. Prov. 95, 143, 203 have the same title but should not be confused with Farid-ud-Din 'Attar's work.

Origin
No date indicated, but probably late 19th century.
Provenance
The manuscript once belonged to Gustaf Raquette who acquired it in Kashghar or Yarkand in the early part of the 20th century. On f. 1b upper part in Raquette's hand with lead pencil: Tezkire ul-awlia.
Acquisition
The copy was presented by Gustaf Raquette's widow, Mrs Hanna Raquette, to the Lund University Library in the 1960's.
