Old number 149. The Eastern Turki translation of the Kalila va Dimna. The whole story of its translation from Sanskrit, here called hindi, into Pahlavi, from Pahlavi to Arabic and thence to Persian, from which language it was translated into Turki, is related on f. 5b-8a (cf. Prov. 249, 256 for further details). On f. 8b a table of contents of the 14 chapters of the book (although only 13 are enumerated). The first page, or pages, is missing.

Bought from Rev. Oskar Hermansson, who acquired the ms. in Kashghar or Yarkand in the 1930's.
Acquisition
The ms. was part of the Jarring collection of Eastern Turkistan manuscripts donated to the Lund University Library in 1982.
