Old number 110. This is a composite treatise dealing with the magical meaning of the different names of God, amulets and prayers etc., mainly in Eastern Turki but also in Persian, from which language the Turki parts may be translations. For comparative material cf. Arthur Christensen, Xavass-i-ayat, Notices et extraits d'un manuscrit persan traitant la magie des versets du Coran (København, 1920) and Blochet, A. F. 25 sur l'interpretation des noms d'Allah. N.B. all prayers in Arabic. Contents;
1) ff. 2b-12b "The qualities of the 99 names of God the most high", the text in Eastern Turki. Cf. Prov. 356:3, 356:4;
2) ff. 12b-55a "An explanation of how to explain the procedure of prayers", in Persian. With numerous tables of letters and numerals and with their magical interpretation;
3) ff. 55a-56a In Persian;
4) ff. 56a-60a In Persian;
5) ff. 60a-76a ... in Eastern Turki, ff. 61-761 in Persian;
6) ff. 76b-77b In Eastern Turki;
7) On f. 77b begins a chapter, which in the margin and in another hand than that of the text is characterized as "the second chapter" and in the text described as follows. It continues until the end on f. 94b, all in Eastern Turki. The 12th, and last chapter begins on f. 88b;
8) f. 95a In Eastern Turki, cf. Zetterstéen 395:1;
9) f. 95b A table of the numerical values of letters of the alphabet;
10) f. 96b An Arabic prayer.

Origin

No date indicated, but on the front inside cover the years 1328/1910-1911 and 1330/1911-1912 which can be estimated as the copying year.

Provenance

On f. 2b a seal impression. Bought from Rev. David Gustafsson who acquired it in Yarkand in the 1930's.

Acquisition

The ms. was part of the Jarring collection of Eastern Turkistan manuscripts donated to the Lund University Library in 1982.
